Penny: Go ahead and say it. Chauvinist geezer? Now you feel better?

Len: I've got two new eyes also. Also had a retinal tear fixed with a laser in the last few years. Way to go with the weight loss.

Jerry: I remember Bob Giacobazzi's sister walking out on the ice and being lost.

12/20/09 11:00 PM #118

Tom Diliberti

Geeze, Chuck.
In case you didn't notice, I was trying to change the subject. Now we have a holy war going too.
BTW, for the record, I support the Dems and what they are trying to do. And strange as it might seem, I also like Ron Paul, who share many ideas with BO and company.

Switch: I appreciate your comments. I think it would be nice to have a serious discussion about issues. Do you want to pick a topic?

Bob,
The country can't afford not to do it. In particular, small businesses need the ability to negotiate reasonable premiums for their employees. Large corporations can't compete on the world market because all the other advanced countries have universal coverage of some type (not all of them are govt.). Our health care costs are holding us back economically.
Appreciate your response.

Dolores Enright Whitman

Bob,
Please don't "bow out". People need to share information. I hold nothing against anyone who disagrees with me. I welcome their opinions. However, I try to learn the facts. The insurance industry has invested millions to give its version of the facts. Their lobbyists are flooding Capitol Hill. Sen. Joe Lieberman's wife has ties to Aetna and he did a complete U-turn last Fall. He had publicly supported allowing people to buy into Medicare when he was campaigning in the past. But, as soon as that became a possibility for the health reform bills, he voted against it.

I don't believe in letting our ardent beliefs about policies turn us into venom-spitting bigots. We see enough of that on Fox TV. But these are issues that are crucial to the future of our country. There is financial reform on the horizon and energy policy and of course jobs creation. All of these issues need to be discussed, and with the Internet at the tips of our fingers we can get many facts. I use Politifact.com and Open Secrets.com and I subscribe to Alternet.com. I also go to WhiteHouse.gov to get their facts.

I urge open discussion of all points of view among all of our classmates who wish to participate.

Classmates,
I agree with Bob that this wonderful website should not be used to pull us apart. I will henceforth not talk issues.
Dolores

03/03/10 11:22 AM #130

John Switchulis

Jake, I'm in Fl but it ain't sunny and not warm!!!! It is in the 50's with the wind blowing, wearing long pants and sweatshirts. The fishing has been bad, we needs some warm weather to get the fish feeding off the beaches. But it could be worse, I could be sitting on a bucket ice fishing in Mi - I guess I can't complain.

03/05/10 11:25 AM #132

Tom Diliberti

Len. I will be glad to send out another notice about the Mexico party when you have more details worked out. I don't know how anyone could miss the announcements unless they haven't opened their emails.

Delores. Thanks for your bold stance on the health care debate. I'm with you of course.

What baffels me is how honest people could have such different interpretations of the same "facts." Perhaps some smart person could explain how this happens.

gerry & class: i went to a meeting of the board of ed
"site & development" monday- march 8th. they had
the architect make a rendering of a site at the
east end of the building where they plan on creating
a landscape entrance where the class of '59' will be
recognized in some form- plaque, sign, etc. the hope
is to finish the details of the design process,
then get bids to have it built. the idea is to get
it done by homecoming of 2010 at which time they
will have a dedication. i'll keep you posted on the
progress of this process. chuck d.
