Jake, I'm in Fl but it ain't sunny and not warm!!!! It is in the 50's with the wind blowing, wearing long pants and sweatshirts. The fishing has been bad, we needs some warm weather to get the fish feeding off the beaches. But it could be worse, I could be sitting on a bucket ice fishing in Mi - I guess I can't complain.

Len. I will be glad to send out another notice about the Mexico party when you have more details worked out. I don't know how anyone could miss the announcements unless they haven't opened their emails.

Delores. Thanks for your bold stance on the health care debate. I'm with you of course.

What baffels me is how honest people could have such different interpretations of the same "facts." Perhaps some smart person could explain how this happens.

gerry & class: i went to a meeting of the board of ed
"site & development" monday- march 8th. they had
the architect make a rendering of a site at the
east end of the building where they plan on creating
a landscape entrance where the class of '59' will be
recognized in some form- plaque, sign, etc. the hope
is to finish the details of the design process,
then get bids to have it built. the idea is to get
it done by homecoming of 2010 at which time they
will have a dedication. i'll keep you posted on the
progress of this process. chuck d.

What a great idea! Are they recognizing each class in the landscaped area or just 1959? How did they pick us?

hello delores: i pursued the issue when i learned that
the new construction destroyed our original display
unit in front of the original building. so i presented
the concerns to the board of ed and they said they
would consider designing something to include our
class and other classes who may have had their gift
destroyed by the new construction. the last meeting
they had come up with this design idea that i have
described and now are in the process of refining the
design and get bids out to construct the final
design idea hopefully prior to homecoming of this
year at which they could have the dedication cere-
mony. i also suggested that they could offer to
all classes of lakeview to purchase engraved bricks
so individuals or classes could be recognized that
way. i will keep you updated. chuck

Chuck,
Good job. I like the bricks idea. Should we try to have a group get-together at the homecoming celebration? Anyone else interested? When is homecoming?

Does anyone know when & how Bill Shinliever died? I am in contact with his sister in Hawaii and she has vague information of what happened.

Hello Tom,

Shouldn't you be able to do that online through the Coleman E Young Center for Information?!

It might be a lot safer for your well-being!

Dennis, Tom

If you go on the web site for Wayne or Macomb counties
you can find all the death notices on record going back quite a ways. I tried it, but the trouble was I didn't know when or in what city Bill passed away. If you are able to refine the search question you might have better luck.

Tom,

I don't get it. I searched the "Detroit & Wayne County Death Records-Information & Indexes" with Billie Allen Shinlever, November 2000 and the search came up empty. Could he have died somewhere else?

I just googled his name and there were a number facts for Bill. The best looking website is MY LIFE, to enter you have to give some info that I'm reluctant to do.GOOD LUCK

Just heard Bee-Bop-a-Lula on the radio.  My grand son thought it was great. Why can't they make great music like that any more?

Sad to say, Dale Ernst died May 15th. It was in the Macomb Daily obituaries today. I am sending a sympathy card from the class of 1959 to the family.  It did not state the cause of death.

Thanks Diane...we lose them along the way.  I hung out a bit with Dale as a youth, and after highschool lost track of him..as I was told, he was a SCS police officer -

Pete and I went to Lapeer, that is where Dale was laid out.  We talked to Pat (Dale's wife) and she told us Dale had Bone Marrow Cancer for the past seven years.  The last few months were really tough.  She said Dale was able to go see the Tigers play on Saturday, May 1st and enjoyed that, but it really wore him out and he did pass away on May 15th.

Sorrry to hear about Dale. I remember after I got out of the service when I would come home from the bar on Friday or Saturday, he would ambush me in front of the house and we would sit in the squad car and chat for awhile. Then he disappeared.
